This site's name is a reflection of its purpose. While the "Nurse" part is obvious, the "i" is somewhat less so. In fact, the "i" in iNurse stands for the three fundamental characteristics of not only this site, but of the World Wide Web itself.

This is an Internet-based service. As such, it serves and represents an audience that is global in scope. Like the Web, its origins stem from a recognition of the needs and desires of a scientific community to communicate in real time... any time... at all times. |

Beyond the medium lies the message. That message, the information that is independently developed by disparate groups and individuals, is the true value of this resource. A fundamental goal of iNurse is to provide access to as much of the current body of nursing knowledge, at all levels, as possible. |

To simply collect information; however, is fruitless. Recognizing this, iNurse was developed both to provide existing information in a format that makes it more accessible and more valuable, and to create a forum for continued advancement of nursing knowledge through ongoing dialogue via email mailing lists, Web-based discussion groups, and interactive chat areas. |
